9th Impact started because the coverage we were reading wasn’t written for people who actually play. Reviews that hedge everything. Guides that bury the answer. Esports pieces that miss the point entirely. We weren’t interested in building another site that talks about games from a distance. So we didn’t. Every person who writes here came from the thing they cover; the job sites, the regional circuits, the forums, the spreadsheets, the benchmark loops at midnight. That background isn’t cosmetic. It shapes every piece that goes up, every opinion that gets put on record, and every call we make about what’s worth covering in the first place.
That’s not a content strategy. That’s just the only way we know how to do this.
What we cover hasn’t been chosen at random. Games reviewed properly, ranked lists that actually help you decide what to play, guides built backwards from the question you’re asking, competitive coverage that gets into the parts most outlets skip, and hardware content that separates what genuinely matters from what looks good on a spec sheet. All of it connected by the same standard: if it isn’t useful or honest, it doesn’t go up. We’re not a large operation and we’re not trying to be. What we are is a team of people who care about this more than is probably reasonable, writing for an audience that feels the same way. No sponsored takes, no filler, no coverage shaped by who paid for the banner.
Just the games, the scene, and the setups worth writing about by people who were playing before they were writing, and will be long after.
