Gaming Build Genshin – Weapon Choices and Sets

8 min read

I’ve been playing Genshin Impact for a while now, and I know how frustrating it is when Gaming doesn’t hit as hard as you’d hoped.

You invest all those resources, but the damage just isn’t there. The right weapon and artifact combination can completely change how Gaming performs in your team.

I’ve tested different setups, and the difference is night and day.

In this blog, I’ll show you exactly which weapons work best for Gaming’s kit and which artifact sets will maximize his damage output. These choices will help you build a Gaming that actually delivers in combat.

Let’s get your Gaming build Genshin sorted out.

Gaming – A Must-Build Plunging Pyro DPS

Gaming is one of those characters who surprised me when I first tried him out.

He’s a four-star Pyro DPS who focuses entirely on plunging attacks, and that makes him stand out. Most characters rely on normal attacks or elemental skills, but Gaming? He jumps up and crashes down with serious force.

What I love about him is how accessible he is. You don’t need a five-star character to deal good Pyro damage. His kit is built around those plunging strikes, and when you pair him with the right supports, he becomes really strong. I’ve seen him clear content that usually requires much rarer characters. If you need a solid Pyro DPS without breaking the bank, Gaming deserves your attention.

Gaming Quick Stats and Tier Rating

Let me break down Gaming’s stats so you can see what you’re working with.

These numbers will help you understand his strengths and how he compares to other DPS characters in the game.

Stat Details
Element Pyro
Weapon Type Claymore
Rarity 4-Star
Role Plunging Attack DPS
Base HP (Level 90) 11,419
Base ATK (Level 90) 238
Base DEF (Level 90) 636
Ascension Stat ATK% (24%)
Tier Rating A-Tier (Main DPS)
Best Team Role On-field Carry

His attack-focused stats make him perfect for dealing consistent Pyro damage. The ATK% bonus from ascension helps him scale well as you level him up.

Best Weapons for Gaming – Choices Ranked for Every Budget

best weapons for gaming choices ranked for every budget

Choosing the right weapon for Gaming can feel daunting with so many options out there.

I’ve ranked these based on how well they work with his plunging-attack playstyle and how easy they are to obtain. Some are free, some require spending, but all of them can work depending on your situation.

1. Fruitful Hook (Event)

This weapon was made for Gaming, and it shows. I got mine during the Lantern Rite event, and it’s been his best option ever since.

The passive boosts plunging attack damage directly, which is exactly what Gaming does. The CRIT Rate substat alone makes building Gaming so much easier.

  • Why it works: Plunging damage bonus matches his entire kit
  • Base ATK: 565 at level 90
  • Secondary Stat: CRIT Rate (27.6%)
  • Best for: Players who grabbed it during the event
  • Refinement: Easy to R5 if you got all copies

2. Serpent Spine (Battle Pass)

If you missed Fruitful Hook, Serpent Spine is your next best choice. I’ve used this on multiple characters, and it never disappoints.

The stacking damage buff works well since Gaming stays on the field for his plunging combos. Just watch out for hits that can drop your stacks.

  • Why it works: Damage bonus stacks as you stay on the field
  • Base ATK: 510 at level 90
  • Secondary Stat: CRIT Rate (27.6%)
  • Best for: Battle Pass buyers
  • Refinement: Gets better with each refinement

3. A Thousand Blazing Suns

This newer craftable weapon caught my attention because it’s completely free and surprisingly strong for Gaming.

The ATK% scales well with Gaming’s kit, and the passive gives you bonus damage after using your skill. Since Gaming relies heavily on his skill to set up plunging attacks, you’ll trigger this constantly.

  • Why it works: Free to craft and refine
  • Base ATK: 565 at level 90
  • Secondary Stat: ATK% (27.6%)
  • Best for: Free-to-play players
  • Refinement: Can reach R5 with billets

4. Verdict / Redhorn / Mailed Flower

These five-star options are strong, but I only recommend them if you already have them sitting around unused.

Verdict gives you movement speed and ATK bonuses, which feel smooth in combat. Redhorn converts DEF to damage, but Gaming doesn’t build DEF, so you’re mainly using it for the CRIT DMG stat.

  • Why they work: Five-star stats and passives
  • Base ATK: 608 (Verdict), 542 (Redhorn)
  • Secondary Stats: CRIT Rate (Verdict 33.1%), CRIT DMG (Redhorn 88.2%)
  • Best for: Players who pulled them for other characters
  • Refinement: Expensive to refine

5. Rainslasher

Rainslasher is a standard four-star gacha weapon that you’ll eventually pull from wishes.

The Elemental Mastery isn’t Gaming’s ideal stat, but if you’re running him in reaction teams with Hydro or Cryo supports, it adds some value. The passive increases damage against enemies affected by Hydro or Electro.

  • Why it’s okay: Works in specific team compositions
  • Base ATK: 510 at level 90
  • Secondary Stat: Elemental Mastery (165)
  • Best for: Vaporize or Melt teams
  • Refinement: Happens naturally over time

6. Tidal Shadow (Craft)

Another craftable option that’s decent when you’re just starting out with Gaming.

The high ATK% helps your damage, and the passive gives you a small ATK boost after hitting enemies. It’s straightforward and simple. I used this before I got better options, and it did the job.

  • Why it’s okay: Free and easy to obtain
  • Base ATK: 510 at level 90
  • Secondary Stat: ATK% (41.3%)
  • Best for: Early game players
  • Refinement: R5 possible with billets

7. Ultimate Overlord’s Mega Magic Sword (Event)

This event weapon has a fun name, but it’s not Gaming’s best fit. I’ll be honest about that.

The passive triggers when you have a certain number of elemental types in your party. Gaming doesn’t really care about team variety for his damage – he wants specific supports.

  • Why it’s limited: ATK buff requires specific conditions
  • Base ATK: 565 at level 90
  • Secondary Stat: ATK% (27.6%)
  • Best for: Players who have nothing else
  • Refinement: Event copies only

Best Artifact Sets for Gaming – Optimize for Plunges and Reactions

best artifact sets for gaming optimize for plunges and reactions

Artifact sets can make or break your Gaming build. I’ve tested different combinations, and some clearly outperform others for his plunging attack style.

1. Obsidian Codex (4-piece)

This is Gaming’s best set, hands down. I switched to it as soon as it came out, and the damage increase was noticeable right away. The set bonus gives you a massive boost to plunging attack damage, which is literally all Gaming does.

You get 40% plunging attack damage at full stacks, and Gaming builds those stacks fast with his skill and burst.

The four-piece effect also reduces enemy resistance when you hit them, so your damage goes even higher. If you’re farming artifacts for Gaming, this is the set you want.

2. Marechaussee Hunter (4-piece)

Before Obsidian Codex existed, this was my go-to set for Gaming.

It still works great if you haven’t farmed the newer set yet. The main benefit is the CRIT Rate you get from losing and gaining HP. Gaming’s skill costs HP when he uses it, so you’re constantly triggering the set bonus.

You can end up with a 36% bonus CRIT Rate just from the set, so you need less CRIT Rate on your artifact substats.

This makes building him much easier. The damage boost is solid, and you’ll clear content just fine with this set.

3. Crimson Witch of Flames (4-piece)

The classic Pyro set still has a place on Gaming. I used this for months before better options came along.

You get 15% Pyro damage bonus from the two-piece, and the four-piece adds more damage to your Overloaded and Vaporize reactions. If you’re running Gaming in reaction teams with Hydro or Electro supports, this set adds value.

The skill damage bonus stacks up to three times, though Gaming doesn’t spam his skill as much as other characters. It’s not his best set anymore, but it’s far from bad.

4. Mix-and-Match Sets (2-piece combinations)

Sometimes you just don’t have a full four-piece set with good substats. That’s okay. I’ve run mix-and-match sets before, and they work fine while you’re farming.

Combine any two of these: Crimson Witch (15% Pyro damage), Gladiator’s Finale (18% ATK), Shimenawa’s Reminiscence (18% ATK), or Vermillion Hereafter (18% ATK).

The damage difference between a good two-piece combo and a bad four-piece set is real. Don’t force a four-piece if your substats are terrible.

Focus on getting good CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, and ATK% on your pieces first.

Dominate with Synergies with Best Team Comps

Gaming works best when you pair him with supports who boost his damage and keep him alive. I’ve tested the following different team combinations, and these setups consistently perform well in various content.

Team Comp Characters Why It Works
Melt Team Gaming + Bennett + Rosaria + Layla Cryo applies first, Gaming melts for 1.5x damage
Vaporize Team Gaming + Xingqiu + Bennett + Zhongli Hydro application lets Gaming vaporize his plunges
Mono Pyro Gaming + Bennett + Xiangling + Kazuha Pure Pyro damage with buffs and resistance shred
Plunge Focus Gaming + Xianyun + Faruzan + Bennett Xianyun buffs plunging attacks, massive damage boost
Budget Team Gaming + Barbara + Xiangling + Sucrose All four-stars, still clears content effectively

Bennett appears in most teams because his ATK buff is too good to pass up for Gaming’s damage output.

Wrapping it Up

Building Gaming doesn’t have to be complicated. You now know which weapons fit your budget and which artifact sets push his plunging attacks to their limit.

I’ve given you the exact combinations that work, so you can skip the guesswork and start dealing real damage.

Test these setups in the overworld first, then take them into harder content. Your Gaming build Genshin will improve dramatically with the right choices.

Vanessa Hart, this side. I write the guides on this site, and I build them for real people with limited time. My goal is to help you finish the quest, beat the boss, climb the ladder, or understand the system without forcing you to read a novel. If a guide can be clearer, shorter, or easier to follow, I rewrite it until it is. I studied English and Technical Communication, then moved into game documentation work because I love turning complicated systems into clean instructions. I have worked with testing teams and community feedback groups, where the difference between “good advice” and “usable advice” becomes obvious fast. A guide should not assume you already know everything. It should meet you where you are. Expect step-by-step help, quick checklists, and explanations that make sense on the first read. If you want guidance that feels human and practical, you are welcome here.
